Our final group project for production practice was a documentary that we chose to focus on the Anthony Walker Foundation and what the foundation does for the young people of Liverpool. Whilst filming we faced some setbacks when realising that there wouldnt be a lot of exciting scenes to film yet we managed to come together and create the video. Due to me being admitted into hospital I wasnt around for alot of this video and admittedly haven't seen the final product as the submission week when we edited and submitted the film was the week I was admitted into hospital.

First Year University
Although I had originally completed a previous first year in LJMU on a different course, I am coming to the end of my first year on the Media Professional Studies course. With only reviews and an exam to complete before my year is over, I have been able to look back over the year and analyse whether I think I made the correct decision changing courses this time last year. The two courses are polar opposites in the structure and ways in which the courses are taught which took me a while to adjust to, with media being a very hands on and interactive course that sees me doing alot of group work. My previous course (history) saw me sitting in a lecture theatre taking notes for the majority of the year, something that is very rarely done on the media professional studies course. I have enjoyed my first year and hope to continue to develop my media production skills throughout my second and third year. It has enabled me to learn what it is I want to do when Im older, although the course is relatively structured to producing media, I thoroughly enjoy the behind the scenes factor that could hopefully see me gaining a career in advertising and media on the television, despite not wanting to be behind the camera I still know what it is I want to achieve. In addition to this I also want to look into getting my teaching qualifications after my degree has finished with possibly spending time doing a conversion course into English. I would enjoy teaching at a secondary level and throughout my A Levels gained experience in the leadership and teaching aspect of schools. Although these are two completely different careers I have managed to narrow it down to these in only my first year, hoping that the second year will allow me to be more specific in my desires to find a career.
Hospital Trip
I recently got admitted to hospital in a strange emergency. After many tests and horrible scans during my time in both A&E and the ward they discovered where the abdominal pain was coming from and later performed the correct removal surgery to mean that after recovery I would no longer be in pain. This hospital trip covered the deadline week that would see me finalising my final projects and essays to finish my first year in university. Both the surgery along wit the anaesthetic has knocked me back slightly in my energy levels since being discharged from hospital that has meant that my work hasn't been submitted on the desired date. This has had a huge affect on me and I hope to have the ability to finish my reviews in the next week whilst recovering at home. I have been signed off work for four weeks with my recovery which will hopefully be the correct amount of time that will see me fit and ready to return to work and my daily activities including driving.

Website continued
I transferred my original design for my website from photoshop onto dreamweaver. This was my first attempt of this and my first time ever using dreamweaver. I faced some setbacks which saw a change in my design slightly but overall I am happy with the result especially as I have never used it before. Using the given instructions I was able to complete this alone and after seeing the result in a webpage preview I was proud of myself for being able to complete it.

Production Practice
Facebook Task
Weve been set the task to create a fake facebook account of a made up character. We had to ensure that we have a back story to our character and all in all we will create an entire story that we will eventually present to the class that will explain our creation. We have created a fictional martian character that has landed onto Earth from Mars. We have created both a facebook and a blog and we are going to base this on an alien/martian and its travels around Earth with the attempt of making money through trying to convince people that the mars rocks he's selling are in fact real.

Digital Media Tools
For our digital media tools module we have began creating the design for our website home page. Doing this on photoshop allows us to show exactly how we want it to look without making a live page. I am not the strongest person on photoshop but hope to eventually improve my skills. I managed to import a personal photo of mine for the banner of the home page and create buttons and place them where I'd want them on the home page. I hope when we begin creating the page it is easy to keep the design how I imagine.
